Real estate unites for Christchurch victims

Real estate unites for Christchurch victims.

The two consecutive terrorist attacks at mosques in Christchurch made news when they occurred on 15 March 2019. Killing 50 innocents and injuring 50 more, the shooting has been described as “one of New Zealand’s darkest days”.

Support and sympathy have poured in from all over the world to support the massacre’s victims and families. Christchurch and its people have stayed strong despite the tragedy, staying true to the beloved New Zealander Māori phrase, Kia kaha.

Real estate agents in Australia and New Zealand have also banded together to give support during this trying time, culminating in a conference, aptly labelled RISE2019, that will feature some of real estate’s most notable leaders.

The guest speakers include Australian author Peter Fitzsimons, Cunninghams Real Estate Director Georgi Bates, Chris Hanley of First National Byron Bay, Harcourt’s Dane Atherton, and many more.

Survivor Farid Ahmed, who lost his wife in the shooting, will also make an appearance. Farid has been featured several times for saying that he has no hate for the man who took his wife’s life, citing instead that he will pray for the gunman.

All of the speakers are volunteers and they have agreed to collaborate and share their insights for the biggest impact and contribution possible in aiding the victims of the tragedy. The events and speakers are completely self-funded. All proceeds, ticket costs, and further donations will go directly to the RISE2019 Event Foundation.

RISE will be held Thursday, 2 May 2019, at the Addington Raceway and Event Centre. The venue is only 20 minutes away from Christchurch Airport.

For attendees who wish to stay overnight, the conference also has a hotel partner, Rydges Latimer, which overlooks the scenic Latimer Square. The hotel is a 10-minute drive away from the conference venue and takes a 20-minute drive from the airport.

But physically attending the conference isn’t the only way people can help. Donations can also be made at their website riseconference.com.au. At the time of writing over $100,000 AUD have been raised, but it’s not too late to pitch in since donations will be open until the event ends!

Switch Media Group Appoints Simon Cashman As Head Of Business & Industry To Meet 39 Million Subscribers.

Switch Media Group Appoints Simon Cashman As Head Of Business & Industry – To Meet 39 Million Subscribers.

The company behind the world’s first Post-Cable TV Network for property has appointed former Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate CEO, Simon Cashman, to lead its business & industry efforts into Australia and the USA.

Mr Cashman will take control of the company’s industry and business relations in Australia and advance its recent and rapid growth into the North American and European markets. Kevin Turner, Chair of Switch Media Group said: “Mr Cashman was the ideal choice for the role, given his extensive experience within media and leading an international franchise brand into the Australian market, the choice was a perfect match.”

Simon is the immediate past CEO of Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate in Australia, with an extensive background dedicating almost 20 years to the film and television industry.

“Streaming media has become the norm and Property TV is the future,” says Cashman. “Property TV is the next generation in property consumption, a convergence of all things related to property. Property TV, or pTV as it is becoming known, is the best place to learn or be entertained with property content and I am excited to be part of the new generation in TV viewing.”

The Post-Cable Industry grew 168% in Q4 2018, which helps explain Property TV’s skyrocketing traction, where 887,000 US subscribers directly shifted to Post-Cable from traditional cable TV in the previous quarter.

“Not only are consumers shifting to Post-Cable, but they are also seeking highly focused and specific content on a theme, industry or preference. It is no wonder why pTV is growing so fast right now, delivering property related content to a booming audience with a high appetite for real estate,” said Property TV Head of Industry, Simon Cashman.

A recent survey in the US by UBS*, identified 39 million subscribers are planning to cancel their Cable TV subscriptions in 2019 and move to Post-Cable.

Mr Cashman leads Property TV’s industry & business efforts, globally.

Easter Sparks Change In Property Consumption

EASTER SPARKS CHANGE IN PROPERTY CONSUMPTION

Sydney and Melbourne both present strong auction clearance rates as they enter the Easter long weekend. Melbourne outperformed Sydney with 1,100 more auctions over the first quarter of 2019 at 6,375 and 5,278 respectively.

Corelogic data suggests the combined capital city auction clearance rate is up by 6.6 percentage points over the March 2019 quarter, compared with Q4 2018. Fewer auctions occurred over the same period, resulting in higher closure rates.

“You only need to look at the data, ” says Property TV’s Head of Industry, Simon Cashman. “Auction clearance rates are showing signs of recovery and this Easter could very well be the start of the positive swing,” Cashman adds.

After months of decline, Corelogic’s Quarterly Auction Market Review shows a trend in the right direction. Led by strengthening markets in Sydney & Melbourne, the Australian auction clearance rates appear to be moving in the right direction.

Simon Cashman is the most recent addition to the Property TV team, joining the group after leading Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate entry into Australia. “I spent many years in film and television before I got into Real Estate and now I get to combine all my skillsets as Property TV’s Head of Industry,” says Cashman. “Property TV, or as its becoming known – pTV, is proving itself as the ‘go to’ place for property industry and related visual content, accessible by anyone to enjoy at home or on the run.” he adds.

Corelogic airs Auction Update each Monday & Friday LIVE on Facebook, YouTube and the Property TV website. It is the best place to learn first hand of the weekend’s upcoming auctions on Friday and the closure rates each Monday. This is just one of the shows available 24/7 on Property TV.

DEMAND FOR AUSSIE PROPERTY STORIES SEES INTERNATIONAL MEDIA MERGER

DEMAND FOR AUSSIE PROPERTY STORIES SEES INTERNATIONAL MEDIA MERGER

A fascination with Australian property has been the impetus for creating a new property media group that will distribute our stories worldwide.

“Australian content is a hot topic internationally, specifically in the US,” said Kevin Turner, host of the Real Estate Talk podcast and chairman of the newly created Switch Media Group.

The new entity is the result of a merger between Real Estate Talk and US based operator Switch Media on 1 August, and will see Aussie content broadcast across the globe to countries including the USA and UK.

Mr Turner said the chance to bring our bricks and mortar content to the world is a career high point.

“This is an opportunity for the Australian property industry to reach consumers around the globe,” he said.

Mr Turner said our country’s stable government, resilient banking system and abundant natural and economic attractions have overseas consumers enthralled, with America leading the charge.

“I recently spoke with one of the US’ leading real estate brands who describe the huge following Australia has within their own country.

“In our discussion she said Australia is a hotspot for real estate content for consumers across the globe, which is why we decided to join with Switch.”

Switch Media Group will be an international property news network that focusses on quality content, informing the property industry of trends, changes and helpful information pertaining to real estate, property, finance, marketing and technology.

The new international media outlet released a statement on its website (switchmedia.co)  last week welcoming Mr Turner to the group.

“Kevin brings unparalleled industry experience and knowhow, bolstering the groups focus of being the trusted voice in property” the statement said.

Mr Turner’s show Real Estate Talk has built an enviable following in Australia, who also brings his leading agent mentoring website Real Estate Uncut under the Switch banner.

With more than 40 years broadcasting via radio and 10 years podcasting and live streaming, Kevin will provide Switch Media Group a solid and reliable property news service and dedicated agent following.

“I am excited about the future and the opportunity by joining with such a great establishment as Switch,” Mr Turner said.

“This year marks a milestone for Real Estate Talk, not only are we joining with a great innovative firm, the podcast is now a decade old, making it Australia’s longest running real estate podcast” added Turner.

There is more to come from new outlet with a new television initiative also due in the near future.
